Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and Development

Biography

Blake Wilkerson is vice president of strategic partnerships and development for the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA), a national federation of 34 independent, community-based and locally operated Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) companies. Today, one in three Americans is covered by the Blue System. 

Wilkerson leads the business development, innovation and strategic partnership functions for BCBSA, with a focus on fostering and managing collaborative business relationships between BCBS companies and complementary third parties. In this capacity, he also oversees the group purchasing organization, as well as international business.    

Having previously worked for the Association’s strategic consulting business from 2002 to 2006, Wilkerson rejoined BCBSA in 2018. Apart from his tenure with BCBSA, he has worked extensively across the healthcare industry in strategy consulting, business development and investor roles, including as principal in the global health practice of Booz Allen & Hamilton, vice president of business development with QuadMed, and investor and operating partner with Fullscript.   

Wilkerson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and psychology from Northwestern University and a Master of Business Administration with honors from Columbia Business School.
